Today marks the first time in a long time our dear Santa has been without a layer of chipped and fading paint. With days worth of scraping and stripping, all of the paint has been removed from the Santa Statue. We’ve joked he got a “chemical peel” or “dermabrasion” to smooth out his blemishes. The next step for Santa has to be some “botox”.

Restoration crews took some samples of the original concrete used to create the Santa Statue and analyzed it in a lab to determine its makeup. Now they have created a special epoxy to fill and stabilize the deep cracks that have formed in the statue over time. We can’t wait to see the final results of all this cosmetic work, breathing a new life into our Historic Santa Statue.
